Project Description:

The City and County of Honolulu planned the development of Waipahu Wells IV to supplement water supply to the Pearl Harbor District. Development involved conversion of four pre-existing exploratory wells at the project site to production wells.
The project consisted of:

• Installation of four deepwell pumps with a peak pumping capacity of 8 mgd
• 20" transmission main from wells to existing 36" cured concrete pipe
• Control building
• Chlorination system
• Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) treatment system with 10 GAC contactor tanks, a 50,000-gallon backwash tank and high flow rate micron filter units and an in-line acid neutralization system with pH and turbidity meters
• Access roadways
• Pumps
• Landscaping

RMTC services consisted of preparing an Environmental Assessment, creating photo-realistic renderings of future conditions, surveying and mapping, and preparing an engineering report and construction documents.
