Project Description:
RMTC successfully completed the layout of the proposed alignment and topographic mapping for the 60-mile Palau Compact Road on time and within budget. Survey crews encountered historical sites and physical features such as streams, swamps and cliffs and were reported to the client, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, to facilitate adjustments to the alignment.
RMTC also prepared topographic and cadastral surveys for the roadway design of the Palau Compact Road. With the help of Palauan guides, RMTC staff became familiar with the terrain and developed extensive knowledge of roads and trails on the island of Babeldaob . The RMTC crew also lived in several villages during their stay in Palau where they were experienced life in the local culture.
RMTC utilized a global positioning system (GPS) to stake out the road baseline, locate historic sites and physical features to facilitate adjustments to the alignment and performed topographic and cadastral surveys for the design of the Palau Compact Road. RMTC demonstrated the ability to:
