RMTC was responsible for developing a comprehensive Infrastructure Master Plan for this multi-facility resort community on Maui. Elements of the master plan included drainage, roadway, electrical, and wastewater facilities for future development.
RMTC planners prepared all of the necessary environmental documentation and obtained the needed land use entitlements for the Infrastructure Master Plan. An Environmental Assessment was prepared to disclose the potential impacts and proposed mitigation measures for implementing the plan. Permits required were National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, State and County Special Use Permits, Conditional Use Permits, Special Management Area Permits and Building Permits.
In response to requirements set forth in the Infrastructure Master Plan, RMTC wastewater engineers designed a new wastewater reclamation facility to reduce the resort’s water resource requirements. The reclamation facility serves the Maui Prince Hotel and has capacity for future planned developments at Makena.
On an ongoing basis, RMTC has provided surveying services to support various stages of development at the Makena Resort. Services included American Land Title Association (ALTA) surveys for the sale of the resort, aerial topographic mapping for planning efforts, as well as boundary, shoreline and parcel mapping. Global Positioning System (GPS) technology is regularly used for field data collection and mapping.
