Project Description:

The County of Kaua‘i engaged RMTC to prepare a Master Plan for a five (5) mile segment of the 18 mile Ke Ala Hele Makalae (Bike-Pedestrian Path) along Kaua‘i south shore between Ahukini Landing and Nāwiliwili Harbor. In addition to the shoreline path, seven (7) additional miles of connections into urban areas are planned.

In addition to preparing a master plan, RMTC planning work includes an Environmental Assessment which complies with both NEPA and Chapter 343, HRS as well as an SMA permit application, Conservation District Use Permit Application, and Shoreline Setback Variance application. All environmental documentation will ensure compliance with Federal statutes, including Section 401 and 404 CWA, Section 4(f) DOT Act, Section 106 of the NHPA, and the U.S. Endangered Species Act.
