The new Cruise Terminal at Pier 2 was a fast-tracked project to add mooring capacity for the growing number of cruise ships visiting Honolulu Harbor. A special consideration for RMTC construction managers assigned to this project was coordination with construction already underway at the adjacent Foreign Trade Zone.
RMTC provided construction management services for the renovation of 190,000 square feet of ship arrival space as well as a new concourse and mezzanine section. Additional work included substructure repairs to the pier, including replacement of fenders.
Work included upgrading the utility infrastructure including new water system, low pressure sewer system, underground drainage systems, electrical and telephone systems, new security systems, air conditioning and ventilation systems, as well as improvements to the access road and parking lot. Interior renovations included the construction of new partition walls for the new passenger queuing area, stevedore area, security rooms and restrooms as well as a new elevator and escalators.
